At Seattle Kids Dentistry, we’ve always known Dr. Purva Merchant is something special, and now, the world knows it too!
We’re thrilled to share that The New York Times recently featured Dr. Merchant in a heartwarming article titled “The Tooth Fairy Is Real. She’s a Dentist in Seattle.” The piece highlights Dr. Merchant’s remarkable 20-year tradition of answering thousands of letters and emails, over 6,000! As the beloved tooth fairy.
What started as a whimsical email address created during dental school has turned into a magical mission. Whether it’s reassuring a worried child who swallowed a tooth, helping a parent keep the magic alive, or responding to sweet, funny, and imaginative messages from little ones all over the world, Dr. Merchant does it all in between caring for her real-life patients at our practice.
Her thoughtful responses and unwavering kindness have brought comfort and smiles to families across the globe. As she says in the article, “There’s something amazing about doing something for someone, and they don’t know who you are.”
We’re honored to work alongside someone who brings not just professional expertise, but also genuine heart and imagination to pediatric dentistry.
Congratulations, Dr. Merchant!
You truly are the tooth fairy and so much more.
