Pediatric Restorative Dentistry

Pediatric Restorative Dentistry in Seattle

If your child has suffered from a recent dental injury, or their tooth has been damaged due to trauma or untreated cavities, our compassionate team at Seattle Kids Dentistry can help provide gentle treatment. Not delaying dental care is the best way to save your child’s tooth and prevent serious issues in the future. Children’s restorative dentistry helps relieve your child’s pain and protect their teeth going forward.

Cavity Treatment

Many children (at least 20%) will have at least one cavity before they turn 18 years old. While our goal at Seattle Kids Dentistry is to shrink this number, cavities are a common dental problem in children that we treat frequently in our office. Cavities can be caused by a number of things, but poor dental habits, diets high in sugar, or genetics can all play a role in cavity development.

Pediatric Fillings

For cavities that are small and caught early, our office recommends pediatric fillings. Typically, our office will use a composite resin filling to treat your child’s cavities, but there are other materials that can be used as well, including porcelain and silver amalgam.

Pediatric Dental Crowns

If a cavity is severe or the tooth decay has begun to impact other teeth, our dentists may recommend a pediatric dental crown. A tooth-like sleeve, pediatric dental crowns help cap the injured or damaged tooth and prevent further decay from happening. In our office, we use stainless steel crowns that are custom fit to your child’s tooth. If an infection is present, your child may require a root canal prior to crown placement.
